Launch and Inspirations

HELLO ALL!

Welcome to my online store. I thought I would introduce myself and give you all some insight to my inspirations and journey thus far.

My name is Leanna. I am a mid 30's BIPOC woman, married with a toddler, 4 dogs and 1 queen (cat). I started my yarn journey when I was 14. My aunt taught me to knit while we watched Moulin Rouge sometime in my freshman year of high school. Back then, knitting was off and on, mostly scarves and hats for friends and my then boyfriend.

Fast forward about 10 years, I graduate from Vet Tech school and entered the veterinary world. Did that for about 3.5 years until I had my daughter. Anyone who's worked in the field knows that it's not a well paying profession, unless you go in to specialty.

I got a job with my friend Maddy, who was working as a dyer for Jorstad Creek, a yarn and fiber company. I became one of the main dyers and am currently their production dyer. While I love dyeing for Jorstad, I also began to have a lot of other inspirations outside of the "Jorstad" label, so I created my own business and began dyeing yarns. That was at the beginning of 2020.

Then the pandemic hit. Honestly, having that creative outlet REALLY helped me get through that period. I started by creating colors based off of League of Legends character splash arts. I'm a pretty big NA LCS watcher, as is my husband and some of our close friends (Go Cloud9). The character splash arts are beautiful and colorful. Hello inspiration.

This was my very first colorway, based of the character that I played the most, Nami, the Tidecaller. As I worked my way through the 150+ splash arts, I found a lot of inspiration, but also noticed that a lot of the same colors tend to repeat. There's only so many colors I can do that have bright blues and dark purples.

By no means are these the only colors used in splash arts, just the ones I gravitate towards the most. I love my blues and purples.

In January of 2021, I became addicted to BTS and Kpop in general. Anyone who's ARMY will know that BTS has VERY colorful outfits, photoshoots, and music videos. These became my most recent source of inspirations. I've created 20+ new colorways from April 2021 to May 2021. While I love them all, that's a lot of yarn building up in my house, so I decided to share them with the world. I have no intentions of becoming a HUGE dyer, I do this for fun and for myself. So, I appreciate anyone and everyone who purchases yarn from me, and know that these are all dyed with a lot of love and care.

I plan on another blog post with ALL my inspiration photos+yarn! Stay tuned, and thank you all for stopping by.

I purple you!

Leanna
