Hi all.
2025 has seen a lot of changes for me personally. I started a new job at a Veterinary Ophthalmologist as an assistant. In the beginning, I started only 2 days a week. About 6 months in, one of our LVTs (licensed veterinary technician) decided to retire after 30 (!!!) years working. We are a small group, so we all had to take on some extra days to cover the gap. I went from 2 days a week to 3 to 4. Those days, I work almost 10 hours a day. I cannot reasonably work a mental and physical job then come home and dye yarn. I also decided to renew my vet tech license so I can start running anesthesia during surgeries again.
What does that mean for Waifu Yarns?
I plan on continuing my wholesale accounts and the few in person events I do. I will be at For Yarns Sake for the Rose City Yarn Crawl in March. Unfortunately, my dyeing is just not the priority for me. I will be turning off my 'Dyed to Order' listings in 2026. I plan on doing 'Ready to Ship' updates periodically. I will always be open to custom orders for those of you who want them, and understand the wait times. Please reach out to me and I am happy to work with you.
My costs have also gone up. Yarn bases that we all love have seen an increase in price per skein over the last couple of years. I have not raised my prices since opening in 2020, so I feel that it is time. My 'Silver' bases will be jumping to $30 per skein. Thankfully, I will not need to raise any other bases.
Other life updates: I am now the mother to 4 cats. Foster failing seems to be something I am very good at. The newest boys are Gustave and Verso. I still have 2 dogs, 2 kids, and my husband. I am also involved in my daughter's school. As a family, we have a lot going on. My husband and I have decided we need to start scaling back on our commitments. Next year I am hoping to be less involved with my kids school, but there is potential that we will be starting activities for the kids again. Life with a young family is ever changing! Those of you who know, know.

I want to end this post with my most heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who has ordered yarn online, attended an event, or come and said hi at any in person event. I appreciate you all to no end and wish you all happiness and health. I am not disappearing, just needing to change my priorities at this point in my life.
